The
Goddess tradition is part of the fastest growing religion in Australia but,
until now, little had been written about the many and diverse ways in which
devotion to the Goddess is expressed, nor about the frameworks that underpin
beliefs and practices in Australia.
Drs
Patricia Rose and Tricia Szirom explored these issues via an extensive online
survey and detailed personal interviews. Gaia Emerging, the result of
this work, tells the story of the growth of the Goddess community in Australia.
It
links the development of the community to the emergence of Goddess spirituality
in Britain and the United States, and speaks to the multicultural nature of
Australia. Historical threads weave into discussions of present practice and
beliefs, which the authors then use to discuss the future of the Goddess
tradition in Australia.
